VASSILISA THE BEAUTIFUL

A four-part illustration series detailing the story of Vassilisa the Beautiful, an old Slavic folk tale. One of the few stories where the Baba Yaga can be interpreted as a helping or hindering entity, this story was one of my favorite folk tales growing up, as it linked me to my Polish/Slavic heritage. Inspired by Ukrainian and Polish imagery and iconography,  the illustrations are meant to link themselves to the beauty of traditional Slavic arts while maintaining a non-written storytelling structure through pure illustrative work.
